HELP ON HS785HB SAIL SERVO

Postby dimitris » 08/12/2009, 22:26

HALO EVERYBODY,

I AM EXPERIENCING A FEW DIFFICULTIES ON INSTALLING CORRECTLY THE ELECTRONICS ON THE AC120 I AM CURRENTLY BUILDING AND I WOULD APPRECIATE SOME HELP. I HAVE CHOSEN FOR MY LUNA ROSSA AN INTERNAL CLOSE LOOP SERVO WINCH ASSEMBLY AS PROVIDED IN THE PLANS OF CLAUDIO DIOLATI. I HAVE SEEN THAT MANY OF YOU ALREADY USE THE HITEC HS785HB SERVO IN YOUR BOATS AND I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THAT. AFTER RECEIVED THE SERVO I TRIED TO INSTALL IT WITHIN THE YACHT ACCORDING TO THE CLAUDIO'S PLAN BUT I HAVE FAILED. THE DISTANCE OF SHEET TRAVELING IS 315mm (MEASURED FROM AFT PULLEY TO MAIN SHEET POST) THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE SPOOL IS 120mm THUS 2.625 TURNS OF DRUM ARE REQUIRED IN ORDER TO SHEET IN OR OUT THE 315mm PLUS EN EXTRA HALF TURN TO FULL TURN OF THE SHEET ON THE SPOOL.THIS MEANS THAT THE MAXIMUM OF TURNS SHOULD BE 3.125. HOW DO YOU PROGRAM YOUR SERVO TO TURN 3.125 TURNS ONLY.(I HAVE THE HITEC HPF-20 SERVO PROGRAMMER BUT I HAVE NOT FOUND A WAY TO DO IT YET)????

Hello Dimitris,
I don't know if I understood well your question cause my english :?
if you want reduce the number of rotations you can install a mechanical stop on your transmitter sail stick.

Hi Matthias,
I discussed with Dimitris via mail and the servo revolutions problem is apparently solved, what remain is the sheet travel needed in order to control the main boom opening . Unfortunately the ITA-74 is not one of my projects, I found difficult to give any suggestions.
Probably you may have some idea ?
Ciao
Claudio

Hello Claudio, and wellcome back! ;) All right?
regard the problem...I don't know what is the Dimitri project, so it is difficult for me resolve the problem. However one solution is using a carbon bridge as NZL-92 by Alessandro Strappaghetti:

you can glue it where you need to have the corret sheet travel.

Claudio, Stefano and Mathias,

Thanks a lot for the immediate response at the moment my problem is solved but I have to consult Stefano about some things that are not quite clear to me yet. Stefano I will send you the plans in Autocad dxf and dwg format since you have lost them after your mishap with the drive. I will also place my questions and you can reply to me whenever you can. Mathias I will take some pics of the hull and post them(most probably on the weekend) at t on the forum in the areas were I have problems in order to give you also the full picture of my project. Thanks a lot again guys.....

Yes I am with you guys but when I had bought the HS785HB the RMG was not available to me.....furthermore it is heavier and bigger as far the geometry is concerned.....Anyway thank's to Mattias help I managed to solve all my problems and I am quite happy with the HS785HB at the moment.....I will probably try the RMG280/320 in my future projects
